Moving!

Well, here we are...moving to West Point.  The movers (Joyce Larsen's son-in-law has a moving company) are coming on Tuesday the 10th of November...two weeks from tomorrow.  So we're busily packing and moving the light stuff.  I am so delighted that I hug and kiss Guenther every five minutes and thank him for moving to West Point.  Bob and Genie and the kids will be moving in here as soon as we get moved out.

We drove up the canyon last weekend and ate at Taggart's restaurant with our friends, the Merkley's and the Zunkowski's.  Then we drove into West Point because they wanted to see where we are moving.

They liked our pasture and the fields beyond.

apple pie time

Guenther picked some of our wonderful, but wormy, apples last week in West Point, and then he used our super duper apple peeler to peel them and cut off any spots.  Then I baked him up some apple pies and froze two for pie when I'm too busy too bake.  They're pretty good, but I'm interested in finding a really great recipe that uses oil instead of shortening for pie crust, because I feel like oil is healthier.

An Answer to Prayer

Guenther lost his wallet last Tuesday.  We searched everywhere.  He thought perhaps it had fallen out of his suit pocket when he was at the temple, so we called there and they searched.  We searched his pickup..no wallet.  I called his credit card accounts, and had everything put on hold.  He was going to have to get a duplicate drivers' license this week, etc.  All a lot of pain...not to mention the worry of identity fraud.  Well, I prayed that we might be able to find the wallet if it was misplaced in the house somewhere.  Then on Monday morning, I felt that I should make one last attempt at searching.  It occurred to me to look in the drawer containing his folded jeans.  He thought that he had gone through all his pockets, but I decided to try again...and lo and behold...there it was.   ..Hiding in the pocket of a pair of jeans folded and lying underneath another pair.  We are so relieved, and so happy.  And I know that the Lord heard and answered my fervent. plea for help, and I am ever thankful that He inspired me to look once more in the Jean Drawer.

On the Mend

Guenther had his gall bladder removed on Friday morning. He went into surgery at 6:30 a.m., and we came home around 11:00.  He's still sore, but he slept well last night, and he's been able to tolerate corn flakes, pizza, and tapioca pudding.  He says he's still not ready for steak, but he's feeling better each day.

He felt well enough last night to watch with me the BYU  Cougars beat the CSU Rams. I recorded it so that we could enjoy it after I got home from the Relief Society Conference telecast at the stake center.

Ripping up the foundation (first read the following post, "Goodbye..)

On Thursday, Brad used a backhoe to rip up the concrete flooring and foundation. Caleb cut down the Russian Olive tree that grew on the east side of Booth's shop.

Goodbye Ye Olde Body Shoppe

On Tuesday the 20th, Brad and Caleb tore down Booth's old body shop, starting with the doors, then the roof, the sides, etc.  I asked them to leave the stable so that we can use it in the spring when we buy some lambs. We'll paint it the same color as the shop, so maybe it'll look a little better.  (Click on this collage to enlarge it, and use control plus to enlarge it even more...I'm thinking that these pics will interest David and Doug, since they worked out there with their dad)
