We've had lots of snow and cold weather during this past week. Yesterday, my neighbor in West Point phoned to say that the snow is piling up on the roof of the house. She wanted me to know in case I thought it needed to be shoveled off. We plan to drive there tomorrow, Saturday, and take a look at things, but today the sun came out, so hopefully, a lot has melted off.
Along with some other members of the ward, I worked at the Deseret Manufacturing Co. last Thursday, stuffing pillowcases with batting. This is a facility which not only makes beds, mattresses and pillows for sale at the D.I., but it is also for training people so that they can get gainful employment elsewhere. Along with other employees, there were two young women from Somalia. Muslims, wearing their headscarves, who will be working there for one year. They receive a wage, and rent an apartment, and one of the ladies told us that after the year is up, she will be returning to Ohio. She spoke little English, and that's one of the things that she's learning. I think it's wonderful how the Church reaches out in humanitarian service to others not of our faith. And some people say that we are not Christian.
Guenther and I enjoyed watching the Super Bowl. I don't understand football all that well, but I liked watching it with him. Our favorite saying is "life is good."

"Life is Good."
I am flying to London next month to see Matthew as Capt. Von Trapp in the "Sound of Music." I feel like the long air ride would be quite painful for Guenther with his back problems, so I will be going by myself, but I've done that before, so that's no problem. I'm really looking forward to seeing Doug and Mary Ann and the kids.
