Alaskan Reflections

We celebrated Emalise's 5th birthday with the cake she helped her mommy bake earlier in the
week. Melissa's family celebrated with us.

In this shot, Lisa looks at the beautiful view from her kitchen sink. I loved watching the mountain change as the clouds came and went.

I like this view of Lisa's shrubs and flowers.
We went to the Alaskan State Fair held in Palmer on Saturday. Here are a few scenes.

Beautiful flowers.

The twins like these 3-D glasses handed out as advertisement by one of the
booths at the fair.

Wood carvings.

This is the LDS exhibit. We were hoping to see Elder Norton, Guenther's grandson. But the full-time missionaries no longer serve in the LDS booths at the fair. The ward missionary from Palmer who was manning the booth gave me Elder Norton's telephone number, but when I dialed, it said, "this number is no longer in service." So I was disappointed. But maybe he will end up being transferred to Eagle River, and Lisa and Terry can meet him then.
The Bigger and Better Terry Weight Family.
Lizzy and Noelle love Grandpa Terry.
Jed is still a bit taller than Logan...when Logan's not cheating by standing on his toes.
The family photo scrapbook that I made for Rachel and Bryce. Of course the photos taken by the professional will be much finer, but these are just fun.

Lisa spent many hours of unpaid time in order to get her classsroom set up. The district allows teachers a paid day or two, but they usually have to spend most of the time in meetings. I said "unpaid" time, but the truth is that Lisa is repaid by the appreciation shown by parents and students for the good job that she does
.

This is just a short video of all my great-grandkids dancing at the wedding. I love it.

The Wedding

Rachel and Bryce were married by Terry. He did a great job.

Some of my favorite shots of the wedding.

The wedding day dawned beautiful... a little overcast...but it turned lovely as the day wore on. As posted earlier, I snapped a photo of a grizzly as I stood at Lisa's dining room window. Then, around noon another interesting turn of events was the unexpected visit of Olivia, Lisa's bridesmaid, whom she hadn't seen in over 20 years. The significant aspect of Olivia's appearance on Bryce's wedding day is the fact that I have always appreciated Olivia and the great help that she gave me as I planned and made preparations for Lisa's wedding. It was good to see her. This is a shot of Olivia, who now lives in Richmond, Virginia.
Ema and Ellyn in their lovely flower-girl dresses which were made by Melissa. Ema pulled Kai, the "Flower Guy" in the wagon, and Ellyn walked behind, tossing flowers.
Terry performed the ceremony. Does Bryce look a little nervous here?

Jed was Best Man. This shot was taken in the house used by the groomsmen.Rachel's dad escorts her down the aisle.
