A busy two weeks

I was assigned to do the decorations for our Relief Society Fall Enrichment Activity held week before last. I wanted to use fall leaves, so we drove into Millcreek Canyon to see if we could find any. No luck. The leaves hadn't changed color yet. I ended up using artificial leaves and flowers, and it turned out really pretty.

We also helped Nancy move that week. Guenther is carrying a box into her new home which is located on the street behind the one where she was living. Really neat...they stayed in the same ward. Summer is modeling a hat that I gave her. I bought that hat for Easter 45 years ago when I was expecting her mom. Mike gives me a smile as he helps. I got a shot of Tami unloading their truck. She and David and Jordan worked super hard.

Our neighbor in West Point called to tell us that they spotted five racoons climbing into the chimney on the house there. Guenther is checking the chimney in this shot. We picked up a trap from the animal control, and our neighbor is baiting it for us, and calling Animal Control when they trap one. So far they've taken care of three of the critters.

We celebrated our two-year anniversary on the 15th of September by eating at a classy little Italian restaurant. The food was pricey, and the chef used more salt than we liked, but we enjoyed the atmosphere out on the patio in the lovely fall evening.

Laboring on Labor Day

David's family and Nancy and the girls came to West Point on Labor Day and picked up our John Deere tractor lawnmower and hauled it in their trailor to the shop for repair in Salt Lake . They also attempted to help me get rid of some old records of Booth's by burning them in the fire pit in the park. I say "attempted" because David was right. He warned me ahead of time that it probably wouldn't work because it's no easy task to burn paper. We did half, and I'll shred the remainder.

Birthday Bash

On Saturday, the 30th of August, Bob and Genie threw a cool party to celebrate David's 4th and Emma's 1st birthdays. They held it at Sugar House Park and invited friends and family to join in the fun.

This bounce-y train that Genie rented for the kids to play on was a big hit.
Emma was cute in her "First Birthday" hat.
And David looked great in his Sesame Street shirt. He's a very big Sesame Street fan.
Lindsey looked like she was having a great time helping to keep track of Emma...who now walks and runs all over the place.

Jackie, Jeannine, and a soon-to-be mommy Krissie.
Bob helps Landon with his pinata attempt.Emily is set to smash it.
David and his dad are watching the party from a distance. All the noise and gaiety seemed a little overwhelming for David. He had a ball running around the grassy hill with his dad in tow.
Here's a shot of Kyle, Brad, and Brent...sorry that I caught Guenther with his eyes closed.

This one with Richard is a better.
Emma was able to capture some attention from Amalie, who followed Emma as she scurried out into the park area.
Rich and Sarah play a little badminton.
A shot of the party-goers digging in to all the good eats.

Alaskan Reflections

We celebrated Emalise's 5th birthday with the cake she helped her mommy bake earlier in the
week. Melissa's family celebrated with us.

In this shot, Lisa looks at the beautiful view from her kitchen sink. I loved watching the mountain change as the clouds came and went.

I like this view of Lisa's shrubs and flowers.
We went to the Alaskan State Fair held in Palmer on Saturday. Here are a few scenes.

Beautiful flowers.

The twins like these 3-D glasses handed out as advertisement by one of the
booths at the fair.

Wood carvings.

This is the LDS exhibit. We were hoping to see Elder Norton, Guenther's grandson. But the full-time missionaries no longer serve in the LDS booths at the fair. The ward missionary from Palmer who was manning the booth gave me Elder Norton's telephone number, but when I dialed, it said, "this number is no longer in service." So I was disappointed. But maybe he will end up being transferred to Eagle River, and Lisa and Terry can meet him then.

Jed is still a bit taller than Logan...when Logan's not cheating by standing on his toes.
The family photo scrapbook that I made for Rachel and Bryce. Of course the photos taken by the professional will be much finer, but these are just fun.

Lisa spent many hours of unpaid time in order to get her classsroom set up. The district allows teachers a paid day or two, but they usually have to spend most of the time in meetings. I said "unpaid" time, but the truth is that Lisa is repaid by the appreciation shown by parents and students for the good job that she does
.

This is just a short video of all my great-grandkids dancing at the wedding. I love it.
