another good week goes by

We have been busy as usual. On Sunday night, Nancy and the girls came by. Here are a couple of shots that I took. In case you don't already know this...A neat trick for easier reading is to press "control and plus sign" together. You can enlarge the blog print...great for us older kids.

Notice the circle on McCall's head? She had a plastic milk bottle stuck there while pretending to be a unicorn. My kids may recall the time that Nancy got her finger stuck in a coke bottle at Lagoon. She was working in the "ring the bottle" booth, and a customer challenged her to prove that the bottles were regular coke bottles. So she stuck her finger in a bottle to show him, and then she couldn't get it out. It took several employees and various methods before they could free her. She was about 16 as I recall, and she received the "Squirrel of the Month" Award for her troubles.

Poor little Summer had an upset stomach and was throwing up in the car on the way to our house. She's a good little trooper as you can see.

On Wednesday morning I tended the girls while Lindsay went to see her midwife. If she's still pregnant this week, I'm going to be sure to snap her photo...that little boy looks like a basketball sticking out on the front of his mom right now.
Cute shots of the girls enjoying their creamies.

The girls playing. That's a spinner toy that I got at IKEA...doesn't work all that well, but Ema likes it a little.
Big sister helping little sister finish the puzzle.

Ellyn concentrates on her task. I surely am lucky to be able to have them visit me.

Here are some of the dear sisters to whom I taught the Relief Society lesson at the Chateau Brickyard Retirement Center on Wednesday afternoon. I really do enjoy going there and feeling the sweet spirit that they have.

On Thursday we went to West Point, and Guenther winterized the air conditioner.

I like the blue sky as a backdrop. Be careful there, Grandpa!

How do you like my new 2007 Altima? I call it the SSS for"Snazzy Sonoma Sunset" (that's the name of the red color) I drove it off the dealer's lot yesterday, the 29th.
The inside is a light beige...I simply love it.
A shot of the pleased owner and her "GR8 CR8" (great crate) I wanted to use it on a vanity plate once, but some of the younger persons in the family informed me that they had never heard of a car being called a "crate." Guess we only did that back in the olden days.
Today (Sunday) was Emma Claire's blessing. I hurried out of the house without my camera, so I don't have any shots of her in the beautiful dress that her mother, Eugenie, was blessed in.
Genie emailed me these photos that they took with their camera.

Bob gave her a beautiful blessing, and we filled one whole row with Guenther's family, plus parts of two other rows. David, Bob, and I bore our testimonies, and people chuckled when David said that he felt sorry for Bob because he had a son named David who doesn't speak, and he has a brother named David who can't shut up.
The Big Brother. I believe that his little sister is going to look just like him...lucky girl...he's as cute as a button.

Another Wonderful Event

On Sunday, September 16th, Jackie's daughter, Sariah was baptized. Her baptismal program was very nice; Ryan gave a beautiful opening prayer in which he expressed thanks for his Grandma Marcelle and said that he knew that Sariah's decision to be baptized was pleasing his grandma, and he prayed that she might be present there with us.

This is Sariah with Elder Holden, who baptized her, and his companion.

I like this photo of Guenther and his son, David.

There was a nice group there to support Sariah. Tiffany is holding Ella Marcelle.

As ever, the potluck dinner afterwards at Jackie's was delicious, and everyone appreciates Brad and Jackie's hospitality.

A Busy Week

Our Busy Week began on Monday, when we drove to West Point to take care of the pasture and lawns. We were pleased when the John Deere tractor mower started up right away. It wouldn't start when we were there on Saturday, so Guenther put the battery on a charger and we just left it on over the weekend, hoping that it would fix the problem. It did.

Then on Tuesday, we did our regular Tuesday Temple attendance. Guenther has been set apart as a veil worker for the noon session on Tuesdays. Attending the temple each week is a wonderful blessing to us.

On Tuesday evening I got to spend time tending the Cook girls while Nancy went to a meeting. Summer and I played a board game, Drew and Toby curled up on her bed to read a new book, and McCall loves listening to her ipod.

On Wednesday, I was in charge of the food for our Relief Society Fall Enrichment Meeting. With a lot of help from Guenther, who stayed home on Tuesday evening and sliced six cups of grapes and diced three large onions for me,(not really such an awful job with the new Videlia Chopper that I bought at Mervyn's...it even sliced the grapes beautifully) my chicken salad sandwich filling turned out well. Here's a photo of Anne, who chaired the whole thing, and our relief society president and counselor helping me fill the croissants.

On Thursday, Richard and Tiffany's youngest daughter, Emily, invited us to her school's Second Grade Grandparent's Program. As we were seated comfortably waiting for the program to begin, Emily's beautiful, tall, willowy young teacher approached Guenther and shocked him when she asked if Emily had told him that he was supposed to say a few words on the program regarding what school was like when he was a boy. Emily had told her that Guenther was from Germany...which he is...only he came to the US when he was under a year old. Guenther didn't take a second before he indicated that I could do it...which he knew that I would be happy to do...so I did. I got a big laugh from the audience when I told them about winning the contest posed by Miss Turner, my second grade teacher. She had challenged us to see who could come up with the most words rhyming with "it." When I won and read my list aloud, the other students gasped with horror as I included a swear word. Miss Turner told my mother that I stopped reading, put my hands on my hips, and assured the other children by saying "There's nothing wrong with that word...my grandma says it all the time!"

On Friday, we celebrated our One Year Anniversary a day early by driving up to Park City. We planned to have lunch at the Stein Erikson Lodge, but we got lost, so we had fast food instead. However, we had a wonderful drive...the sky was so blue, and the clouds were so beautiful.

On Friday afternoon we had some fun visiting dealers and looking at cars. Here's Guenther standing by a Toyota Camry.

Our day ended by attending our Ward Temple Night with the Maxfields who live across the street. We had a great First Anniversary Celebration Day

Our Typical Sunday

Each Sunday afternoon (our meetings start at 1 p.m.) we pick up Roberta Preece, a widow in our ward whom we home teach.

Robert and Genie frequently come over on Sunday evenings. David loves to flip the light switch on and off. David seems to be adjusting okay to his new baby sister. Genie looks good, and she is doing well.

Emma is doing beautifully. She sure is cute.

Celebrating Nancy's Birthday

On this Sunday evening we went over to David's to eat some delicious birthday cake specially made by Katherine and the girls to celebrate with Nancy. Here's a shot of their creations:

McCall watches Nancy blow out the candles.

The girls did a little dancing for the group. Here's McCall "busting a move."

Summer gets into the act.

Tami enjoys the refreshments.

A photo of the group (except me). Jordan, Jennifer, Mike, Cameron (Kath's friend), Katherine (sorry, Kath, this is the only group photo that turned out halfway good. Notice the tabletop is in great focus), Nancy, Guenther, McCall, Tami, David, and Drew and Summer and Apollo.

Here's a better shot of Katherine and Cameron.

Saturday Doings

Yesterday (Saturday the first of September) Guenther helped Richard work on a new patio in his backyard. We stopped there on the way to dinner, and I snapped this photo.

Tiffany took this photo of Guenther and me in her front yard

We had a beautiful drive through Weber Canyon as we headed for the Spring Chicken Inn in Morgan

Dinner with our friends: Guenther, Jeannine, Lou Jean and Max Whiting, Bob and Al Arrington, Al and Donna Metzler
