I love this English Walnut tree. It's leaves are a beautiful green in summer and a glorious gold in the fall. I snapped this photo on Monday, the day after my Favorite Day of the Year. Oh, Christmas and Thanksgiving are wonderful days alright, but the Fall-Back Day when we get an extra hour as we switch back to mountain standard time just feels so great..I believe because I have always been a slowpoke, I'm usually pressed for the time to do all I'd like. Wish every day was "Fall-Back" day.

visiting Antelope Island
Jordan and Giselle paid us a visit on Thursday. After lunch, we drove over to Antelope Island. I was amazed at how low the lake is. One has to hike a ways to get to the water from the beach houses. We enjoyed seeing all the bison..mostly bulls I believe..they had a roundup earlier and penned up all the females and calves for inoculations, etc.
A walk down our country road
I love these views of the field corn that we saw this week when we took a little walk down the dirt road behind the house. Fall is quickly coming to an end..note the snow on the mountain tops. Guenther says that it feels good to be able to stroll without the lower back and hip pain that he used to have. Maybe it's all the fresh air.
Spooked
stoll family party for october 2010
Jackie does a great job of hosting the Stoll family parties. This month she planned a menu of soups, and as always, with a family of great cooks, everything was very tasty.
Guenther took a moment to express his love to his family.

Adios Zucchini
It's time to get the garden ground ready for next spring, so Guenther pulled out the zucchini and spaghetti squash on Saturday. We had a bountiful harvest of zucchini. I grated a lot and baked it in my favorite zucchini fudge brownie recipe in addition to soups, ratatouille, etc.

We threw some into the pasture, and the lambs went to town on it.

Watching General Conference at David's house
Nancy and her girls, Lindsay, Matt, and the 3 little O's, and Guenther and I enjoyed watching the Sunday afternoon session of Conference at David and Tami's. I loved all the talks...especially President Monson's talk on gratitude where he said that if ingratitude is one of the most serious sins ("In nothing doth man offend more.."), then gratitude must be one of the highest virtues..and to live with a heart full of gratitude is like living with a little bit of Heaven. Here are a few photos that I snapped as we ate and enjoyed each other's company afterwards.

Summer is wonderful with her younger cousins. They had awhile to play outside before the wind and rain started.I can't remember what someone asked when McCall volunteered to comment.
