On the Mend

Guenther had his gall bladder removed on Friday morning. He went into surgery at 6:30 a.m., and we came home around 11:00.  He's still sore, but he slept well last night, and he's been able to tolerate corn flakes, pizza, and tapioca pudding.  He says he's still not ready for steak, but he's feeling better each day.

He felt well enough last night to watch with me the BYU  Cougars beat the CSU Rams. I recorded it so that we could enjoy it after I got home from the Relief Society Conference telecast at the stake center.

Ripping up the foundation (first read the following post, "Goodbye..)

On Thursday, Brad used a backhoe to rip up the concrete flooring and foundation. Caleb cut down the Russian Olive tree that grew on the east side of Booth's shop.

Goodbye Ye Olde Body Shoppe

On Tuesday the 20th, Brad and Caleb tore down Booth's old body shop, starting with the doors, then the roof, the sides, etc.  I asked them to leave the stable so that we can use it in the spring when we buy some lambs. We'll paint it the same color as the shop, so maybe it'll look a little better.  (Click on this collage to enlarge it, and use control plus to enlarge it even more...I'm thinking that these pics will interest David and Doug, since they worked out there with their dad)

September Get-together at Jackie's

We had a nice time at Jackie's on Sunday evening.  As always, everyone brought delicious dishes to share. I really like Jeannine's rhubard custard cake dessert and Jackie's plum kuchen.

Baby Cole still has his cute little face, and so does Emma.

The Latest with the Millcreek/West Pointers

We celebrated our third wedding anniversary last week.  We appreciate so much the blessing of having one another to love and support . Does Guenther look a little thin?  We've been to the Emergency Room at the VA Hospital three times this past month. Each visit took place around 3 a.m. when Guenther was cramping and vomiting violently.  Tests reveal a blockage in his gall bladder, and he's having it removed on Friday.  Meanwhile, we are watching his diet..no fats, meats (except fat-free white chicken/turkey), beans, onions, cabbage, or cheese.
Jackie's husband, Brad, is going to tear down Booth's old shop for us tomorrow.  I've had the big Box-Elder and Elm trees cut down.  It looks more forlorn than ever.

I noticed that my pottery planter was becoming chipped, so when we took out the petunias this past week in order to plant pansies, I turned the planter around.  The next morning I discovered that the newspaper was the culprit.  Our carrier throws it onto the porch each morning where it was knocking the paint off the pot.  Now I protect it with a chair each night.

Guenther's zuchinni plants have really been beautiful this year.  We've had zuchinni brownies, cookies, brown sugar bars, and, yummiest of all , zuchinni potage and ratatouille (spelled wrong).

the fans and the players

These are shots of the volley ball game after we got through eating last Sunday night.  (See next post). That little Kai loves his Aunt Nancy.  He shadowed her all evening, and came to me once for a second, but he looked sad and when I asked him if he wanted to go back to Nancy, he eagerly said "Yes!"

Eating and Greeting

We had a fun time Sunday evening when the Crabtrees and the Stolls came to West Point to celebrate Renee's and Nancy's birthdays and eat barbequed pork and volley ball.  I was a bit concerned at first, when the party started because, at 5 p.m., the sun was pretty hot.  But by the time they were through eating, the volley ball players were able to have a great game out in the pasture.
