a trip to eden

Last week we drove to Farmington and renewed Guenther's driver's license. Afterwards we took Trapper's Loop into Ogden Valley so that we could eat lunch at a little German restaurant in Eden.    The food was okay..I liked best the sauerkraut. It was a beautiful day, and we both enjoyed the drive.

Suzie comes to visit

Guenther's daughter, Sue, is here from Weatherford, TX. Her husband, Tim, had to fly home on Sunday, and she is staying at Tim's mother's home for another week, along with Sam, Henry, Lucy and Max. In the top photo, Henry, has just done something to offend Max who promptly let his anger be known and refused to be in the photo with grandpa. Note the mischievious big-brother grin on Henry's face.

those pesky starlings

We hate starlings.  They're just so mean and just a nuisance.   They had a couple of nests under the roof of the shop.  My friend's son does odd jobs in the neighborhood, so we hired him to climb up and wire over the openings where the starlings get in.  Mission accomplished..so far, no starlings making their way in.

Summertime and the livin' is easy

Well, this is a mistake, I guess.  Aren't they darling?  Hope I can go through with the plans for October. (The 19th is the date for the slaughter truck to come).

We enjoy looking at the hay all stacked up.

Posted by PicasaIs this guy photogenic or what?  We like eating out on the picnic table when the evening's not too warm.

Watching fireworks from our front door

Posted by PicasaI was working on my blog when I heard this loud boom, looked out, and saw fabulous fireworks exploding in the sky over the park.  I never would have believed that the time would come when I could enjoy a fireworks show from my own front porch.  I ran and grabbed my camera, but in the dark, I couldn't see what setting I had, so thus these weird photos.

Nature's Fireworks

We usually watch an hour or so of TV each evening.  Tonight I came upstairs around 9 p.m., and saw a golden-pink world.  It was so lovely.

Fourth of July Parade

Guenther and I sat in front of our house and watched the parade pass by.  What a nice way to watch a parade.  We planned to go over to the park for breakfast (McCall was helping there), but when we got over there, we saw a mob.  We don't do mobs well, so we came on back home, fixed our own breakfast, and then enjoyed the parade.

More photography

We're not into a lot of travel, so most of my photography hobby is done here at home.  We really enjoy our songbirds...Guenther keeps the feeders filled with sunflower seeds and thistle seed

We used to raise mourning doves.  I wonder if this one is a descendant.
We enjoy watching the lambs and taking care of them.  We feed them a slice of alfalfa every day.
Jen's dog, Nixon, also liked the lambs...and they seemed to like him.
I just can't get enough photos of the fields and the sky.  They're so beautiful.  This was taken with my little camera.

I like to call these shots "country livin'"

Guenther climbed up on the roof to fix a small leak in the water hose.  We had the raingutters replaced last week, and we're happy with the result.

I take lots of photos of goldfinches.
